Adjacent water:
The Yorktown station is located southwest of the York River channel, approximately 6.8 nautical miles upstream from the River’s mouth.
Landscape:
The station is located approximately 200 meters from shore. Sparse beds of submerged aquatic vegetation dominated by eelgrass (
Zostera marina
) occur shoreward of the station.
Monitoring Period:
This VADEQ funded station was established on July 2, 2003. Data is available at 15 minute intervals from July 2 to December 1, 2003, February 27 to November 30, 2004, and February 28 to December 5, 2005. There is a gap in the data from September 9 to October 16, 2003 when the station was destroyed by Hurricane Isabel. No further deployments are scheduled for this station.
